The Hyper Hop can be considered a basic technique and it can also be considered one of the most useful advance techniques. From a far, the Hyper Hop looks like a regular hops with shadows. But, technically it is far more useful that that. A regular hop is fast compared to a jump, but a Hyper Hop is fast compared to a hop. The Hyper Hop's strength is to be briefly airborne with less chance of being nail by an anti-air. To perform the Hyper Hop, you need good handle on the controls.

Hyper Hopping backwards

With soft hands, you should be able to Stutter Step and Fake Run, but with good control you should be able to Hyper Hop. To execute the Hyper Hop, swiftly flick the joystick from the down direction to the up-forward direction. If performed correctly, your character should hop forward extremely quickly with shadows trailing him / her. As you can probably see, your character is in the air for a very short period of time, with enough time to execute an air command or move and with just enough time to get anti-aired in your opponent anticipates it.

Hyper Hopping forwards

Mastering this move will give you a slight advantage, as your chance of being anti-aired will reduce and you can suddenly burst out with a jumping attack, leading to a devastating combo. Aside from offensive advantages, the Hyper Hop can also give a player some defensive capabilities. A player can Hyper Hop backwards repeatedly. Some may say the Evade Roll is more useful, but with a backwards repeated Hyper Hop you are in control of your actions with the ability to snuff your opponents incoming attacks. However, if used too often, the opponent can anticipate the hop and even interrupt it.
